Fashion festival climbs to dizzying new heights

WITH a 200m catwalk suspended 55m above the ground, this was an event that was tailor-made for lovers of high fashion.
Staged by the organisers of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Festival Sydney, the "The City Is My Catwalk" event, held this week, had three brave models take to the "runway" on top of the southern hemisphere's largest billboard above the Glebe Island Silos next to the Anzac Bridge.
The models paraded outfits by leading designers, including Nicola Finetti, Manning Cartell and Aurelio Costarella, ahead of the week-long Mercedes-Benz Fashion Festival Sydney, which begins on August 23 and is open to the public.
"We wanted to highlight the retail footprint of Sydney by creating this amazing city backdrop photo," IMG Fashion general manager and event organiser Daniel Hill said. "We are bringing front-row glamour to the public. It's exciting."
Mercedes-Benz Fashion Festival Sydney is also offering a world-first presentation of hot fashion videographer Justin Wu's new video exclusively for Daily Telegraph readers. In collaboration with models.com, Wu has used some of the world's most sought-after male models lip-synching to Elvis Presley's A Little Less Conversation in a high-octane video showcasing theBoys of Spring/Summer 2012.
